The modern passenger jet Tu-204SM which has successfully completed the flight development testing in Ulyanovsk, has performed a flight to Zhukovsky for carrying out its certification testing, Vzglyad reports. CEO of Tupolev design bureau, Valery Solozobov has declared this fact on Thursday.

«The jet is equipped with PS-90A2 engine, which has already been certified by the IAC aviation registry in accordance with JAR-33 harmonized with European standards’ requirements. The jet is also equipped with a brand-new auxiliary power plant», - said Solozobov. In spite of liner’s technical appearance has seriously changed, its aerodynamical performance is still solid. The jet’s outside appearance has not changed.

The main bulk of testing is dedicated to new electronic equipment on-board kit enabling the work of flight crew consisting of two pilots.

«The crew of all Tupolev passenger jets included three men prior to this jet », - a specialist explained. As for on-board equipment, according to designers, Tupolev still prefers domestic suppliers. «85-90% of on-board equipment will be made by the domestic enterprises, as before», - Solozobov noted.

He also said that “the new philosophy of post-sales support of Tu-204SM accepted by Tupolev” is very important. It consist in the manufacturer “commits on provision of post-sales support during the whole jet’s life cycle” and the support is provided on the basis of jet’s technical state, i.e. following the results of data analysis obtained during constant monitoring of on-board systems’ condition. A special directorate has been created on Tupolev to control this area.

«We want to make pilots comfortable and we try to help airlines decrease the operational costs for this jet which is highly competitive against Airbus and Boeing aircraft”, - CEO of Tupolev stated.

According to Solozobov, six Tu-204SMs are in various states of assembly at Ulyanovsk Company’s site. Besides Russian airlines, foreign carriers are also taking interest in this jet. Among the potential customers are some Middle East countries.
