Russian Helicopters will equip the modernized Ka-62 with Turbomeca Ardiden 3G engines

Russian Helicopters and French company Turbomeca (Safran group) have signed contracts on deliveries of at least 308 Ardiden 3G turboshafts for modernized Ка-62s, the company reports. AEX.ru

These contracts have been signed in the network of protocol of intent signed by the parties on February 21st 2010, which includes development and deliveries of the French engines for Russian Ka-62 helicopters.

The modern Ardiden 3 engines are intended for helicopters with weight capacity of 6-8 tons, performing a wide range of tasks and fully confirming to the market’s requirements. Thanks to module design and Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) Ardiden 3 engines have a high reliability, they are easy to operate and have a low fuel rate. It is planned to equip Ka-62s with engine’s special variant - Ardiden 3G.

At present the Russian Helicopters is interested in medium and light multi-role helicopters segment expansion, these helicopters are intended for transportation, emergency medical treatment, air works and surveillance.

CEO of Russian Helicopters, Dmitry Petrov has noted: «We are pleased with the contract’s signing; it is a very important step in our cooperation with Turbomeca. Indeed, the cooperation with famous manufacturer will help promote Russian helicopters at the global market ».
