The state bank VEB tries to control the funds invested in a project of 44 Tu-204SM jets development for Red Wings airline. According to RBC Daily, the total jets’ value is 55 billion rubles.
We remind you that the governmental commission headed by Sergey Ivanov has made a decision in early March that the project will be financed by VEB (the amount of the project is $1.85 billion) and Ilyushin Finance and Co. (IFC) will be the project’s leasing company. However, the state corporation’s management has proposed to pass the delivery from IFC to VEB Leasing. The IFC’s management has independently made a decision on dropping out of the project yesterday.
«IFC has formed the project and presented the conditions of its financing to the government and VEB. After that a number of meetings has been held and the government has formed a different position saying that the project is very complicated, it has a lot of factors to be controlled and it demands precision and clarity. As a result, all the parties have agreed that such a difficult project should be entrusted to a 100% state company, for example VEB
Leasing. I think it was a right decision», - said CEO of IFC, Alexander Rubtsov.
In addition, Rubtsov has specified that IFC is dropping out of the Tu-204 project completely. «We will focus on different types of aircraft demanded by our market. First of all these are regional jets and turboprops, for example, we will look at MS-21», - he added.
