It is a first civil flight to Sendai’s airport after the destructive natural hazards in Japan. In spite of the airport being seriously damaged, all the necessary conditions for landing of heavy transport aircraft An-124-100 with the humanitarian cargo onboard have been provided.
This aircraft has been chosen for transportation due to irregular cargo’s dimensions – its height is more than 3,5 m. The special medical bus, delivered to Japan by Volga-Dnepr in accordance with Bascom Palmer Eye institute’s (USA) order, is a portable clinic for diagnostics and treatment of ophthalmological diseases in the areas with a need in medical service and where the stationary clinics have been destroyed.
CEO of Volga-Dnepr Group, Alexey Isaykin, has noted that this flight has been performed in sign of support for the Japanese people. «We and the whole world are very impressed by the resilience, courage and self-control of Japanese people. We hope that our feasible help would be well-timed for Japan », – he said.
