Vnukovo and Sheremetyevo airports forming part of Moscow Air Cluster will be unified in a single network. "After a consultation with mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin and Transport Minister Igor Levitin, we have decided to unify Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo airports in the single network ", - Putin said. According to Putin, the cost of this network's creation will be several tens of billions of rubles. CEO of "Aeropoekt", Alexei Titov, has also supported the creation of this network. "As for unifying Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo, we support this proposal. It gives positive changes of passenger service quality and eliminates conflicts ", - Titov said.
The mayor of Moscow, Sergey Sobyanin, in his turn, noted that Moscow Government is ready to pass its holding of Vnukovo airport shares to Russian Federation in exchange for funds from the federal budget which the city plans to invest in the development of underground railroad. Vladimir Putin has offered to compensate costs on development of Vnukovo airport at the rate of 45-50 billion rubles.
Vladimir Putin has also admitted that a decision regarding the construction of third runway at the Sheremetyevo airport has been made. Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Transport have been instructed to provide necessary funds for the project.
"Sheremetyevo-Vnukovo" network will be privatized later. "I would like to admit that the State does not purpose to have this assets for a long time. This project has a purpose of creating the single network, equip it with the necessary facilities and then market and privatize it ", - Putin said.
Moscow Government owns 75% of Vnukovo shares and the Government of Russia owns 100% of Sheremetyevo shares.
