According to VPK, naval aviation of Russia will be embodied in the Russian air forces since April 1st 2011 in accordance with a directive of Chief of General Staff. The Navy shall have passed from its complement Su-27 fighters, MiG-31 air-defense interceptors, supersonic bombers Tu-22 and part of transport aircrafts.
Antisubmarine aircraft Il-38, Tu-142, antisubmarine hydroplanes Be-12 and deck-based aviation presented by marine fighters Su-33 and Ka-27 helicopters will stay in the complement of Navy's naval aviation. The Navy has almost lost its naval missile-carrying aviation during the post-Soviet era.

The Black Sea Fleet has four overage Be-12s. Most antisubmarine aircrafts of the Black Sea Fleet will have exhausted their resource completely by 2015. Navy has a heavy aircraft carrying cruiser "Fleet Admiral of the Soviet Union Kuznetsov"in its complement. Its aircraft wing may include deck-based Su-33 fighters, Su-25UTG flight trainers, multi-role helicopters Ka-27 and Ka-29. It has been reported earlier that the acquisition of 26 MiG-29K fighters for Navy's needs has been planned.
In addition the aviation of strategic rocket forces will also be embodied in the Russian air forces since April 1st 2011 in accordance with a directive of Chief of General Staff. The fleet of rocket strategic forces includes more than 80 aircrafts and helicopters. For example aviation of SRF has Mi-8 and Mi-9 helicopters of different modifications, An-26 and An-72 transport aircrafts. SRF aviation provides transportation of key personnel and inspection teams for carrying out operability tests, regular reliefs for performance of combat duty and transportation of materiel.
