Rosoboronexport is completing the delivery of three A50E/Is to India

According to VPK, Rosoboronexport is completing the delivery of three early airborne surveillance, detection and homing aircrafts A-50 E/I (analogue of American AWACS) and expects more orders from Deli on such aircraft.

Anatoly Isaykin, CEO of Rosoboronexport, said: "As for aircraft delivery - it is almost completed. The third aircraft has been delivered to India and it is undergoing the last phase of acceptance at the moment. India takes interest in such aircraft and we are expecting more orders".

He has also noted that the Indian partners are very pleased with this aircraft. As reported earlier, the contract on delivery of three early airborne surveillance aircrafts equipped with Israeli Phalcon radar produced by ELTA Electronics Industries has been signed in October 2003 in Deli by Russia, India and Israel. Beriev Aircraft Company, Ilyushin and Vega concern are taking part in the project's realization from the Russian side. According to the specialists' assessments, early airborne surveillance, detection and homing aircraft A-50 E exceeds the American Е-3А AWACS by the level of target discrimination against ground surface and transmission range (via satellites).

More than 220 aircrafts of similar assignment are operated all over the world. They are passed into service in more than 17 countries and NATO Allied Command. А-50 E is used for homing of aviation on air, ground or marine targets. It is capable of detecting bombers at the distance up to 650 kilometers, fighters - up to 300 km, cruising missiles - up to 215 km, ground targets - up to 250 km, marine targets - up to radio horizon.
