The documents establishing the joint venture " between Kirghiz state-owned Manas fueling company and Russian Gazpromneft-Aero has been signed on Friday in Bishkek.
Gazpromneft-Aero-Kyrgyzstan joint venture is being created as the aviation fuel supplier of the Pentagon's Transit center in Bishkek.
Kirghizstan has signed an agreement with the American party early in February with obligation to supply not less than 50 pecent of its fuel for the air base needs. However, the Kirghiz party has reserved the right to assign the supplier of the aviation fuel independently.
The Kirghiz first vice Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov declared that the named joint venture should start supplying the fuel in March.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Manas fuelling companyCEO Maksatbek Sharipov and of Gazpromneft-Aero General Director Vladimir Egorov. The later has refused to comment the joint venture’s plans for operation, potential volume of supplies and the profit sharing between the Kirghiz and the Russian party for sake of confidentiality.
Pentagon's air base has been deployed at Manas international airport in 2001 under the framework of the NATO’s Enduring Freedom operation in Afghanistan. Later it has been renamed a “transit center”. Now it appears to be the major redeployment base for US military personnel and equipment to Afghanistan.
