Aeroexpress intends to start the construction of its terminal at St. Petersburg Pulkovo airport in autumn 2012, MTRK Mir reports with reference to the statement of Alexey Krivoruchko, CEO of Aeroexpress.

The opening of the terminal is scheduled on 2014. The terminal’s construction will be financed using the company’s own funds. Russian Railways and Aeroexpress intend to spend 13 billion rubles on the launch of speed commuter trains from Baltic railway station in St. Petersburg to Pulkovo airport (8 billion will be provided by Russian Railways and 5 billion – by Aeroexpress).

It is expected that the construction will take 2.5 years and its launch will be synchronized with completion of terminal’s phase 1 construction work. Russian Railways plans to construct a new through bridge with length of 1 km across the Pulkovo highway in the network of this project.

It is planned that headway between consecutive trains to Pulkovo will not be exceeding 30 minutes. «But our goal is 15 minutes», - said chairman of St. Petersburg Committee for Investment and Strategic Projects, Alexey Chichkanov.
The train performance will be carried out without any stops and the travel time will be around 30 minutes. The line’s estimated passenger traffic is 3 million passengers per year.
