Ministry of Transport has issued draft regulations for provision of subsidies to the airlines, which will be used for reimbursement of some part of leasing payments during acquisition of regional aircraft. The Ministry intends to start the provision of subsidies since January 1st 2012.

The subsidies are aimed at reimbursement of some part of costs connected with acquisition of aircraft, delivered by leasing companies in accordance with leasing agreements, for carrying out the regional and local flights. It is noted in the project that the subsidies will be provided for acquisition of aircraft eligible for operation in Russia and not older than 10 years with 55 or less seats for any type of engines and 72 or less seats – for turboprops.

Any airline, which performs regional and local flights, may claim the subsidies.

The greatest amount of subsidies is assumed for acquisition of new aircraft with 51 – 72 seats. It is intended to allocate 98,55 million rubles from the Federal Budget for each such aircraft. The airlines’ applications will be considered by the Federal Air Transport Agency.
