Russia has offered India to establish a joint production of passenger aircraft, which will be used for Indian domestic and international flights, for the first time, ITAR-TASS reports with reference to Indian mass media.
The project assumes opening of assembly lines for Sukhoi SSJ100, Tu-204, An-178, MS-21 and Be-200 aircraft at Indian enterprises, Indian Express reported. "The proposal has been submitted on the threshold of formal visit of Indian prime-minister Manmohan Singh to Russia, - the issue noted. – The topic of cooperation in the area of civil aircraft production will be included in the agenda of negotiations with the Indian leader in Moscow".
The Russia’s offer on joint production of civil aircraft has been considered during negotiations between the representatives of two countries earlier. India will take the decision taking into account its own intention of creating an indigenous 90-seat passenger aircraft in the next 5 years. The cost of this project will be $1,8 billion.
