Russian air forces will acquire 60 air defense systems in 2012

Russian air forces will acquire 60 new-built and modernized air defense systems in 2012, including S-400 “Triumph”, Lenta.ru reports. It has been stated by the representative of Russian Ministry of Defense, Colonel Vladimir Drik. The service will also acquire “Nebo-U” radar facilities and “Pantsir-S1” antiaircraft missile systems. The equipment will be delivered in the network of State defense order for 2012.

It has been reported earlier that 90 new and modernized aircraft will join the fleet of Russian air forces in 2012, including MiG-29, MiG-31, Su-27 and Su-35S, Su-25 strike-fighters, Su-24M bombers and Su-34. As for helicopters, 20 strike Mi-28N “Night Hunter” and Ka-52 “Alligator” helicopters, Mi-8, Mi-26T and Mi-35M transport helicopters will be delivered to the service.

It is expected that the financing of State defense order for 2012 will be 1,769 trillion rubles, 1,109 trillion of which will be spent on acquisition and modernization of armament and vehicles. Most part of the contracts in the network of State defense order for 2012 will be signed by the end of 2011. Many parameters of the future order are still unknown.
