Su-30SM fighters of the Russian air forces will be equipped with AL-31FP engines

The aircraft of Russian air forces will be equipped with engines with vectorable jet nozzle for the first time, the press-service of Ufa engine-building production association (UMPO) reports. AEX.ru

AL31-FP engine made by UMPO have been manufactured earlier only for exported jets. At present UMPO has delivered four engines to the Irkutsk aviation plant. They will be installed on two Su-30SM fighters, which will undergo certification testing and then will be presented to the Russian Ministry of Defense.

"The thrust vectoring provides super-maneuverability of the aircraft at low speeds", - UMPO’s press-service noted.
