The contract on delivery of two Mi-171E helicopters to the air forces of Argentina has been signed by the Ministry of Defense of Argentina and Rosoboronexport in late August 2010 in Buenos Aires. It is the first purchase of Russian aircraft by Argentina.
The delivery has been approved during formal visit of Dmitry Medvedev to this country in April 2010. The value of the contract is estimated at €20 million. The contract also includes personnel training.
It is planned that the main objective of Mi-171Es will be the provision of Argentinian stations in Antarctica and the performance of search-and-rescue missions. Both helicopters (tail numbers H-94 and H-95) have vivid orange-white livery. The vehicles are equipped with rescue elevators.
The Deputy Director General of Rosoboronexport, Viktor Komardin, has confirmed during MAKS-2011 that it is planned to deliver three more Mi-171Es to Argentina in the network of state credit, provided by Russia.
At the same time, Russian specialists, sent to Argentina, will help create service infrastructure and train personnel.
