Kompozit Holding will possibly be supplying Russian composites for the needs of European Aeronautic Defense and Space concern (EADS), RIA Novosti reports. It has been declared by the First Deputy Director General of Kompozit, Vladimir Khlebnikov.

The delegation of EADS has visited the site of Prepreg-SKM (stands for Prepreg- Modern Composites), the engineering company of Rosnano, forming part of Kompozit. The delegation has been formed by representatives of aircraft industry, helicopter industry and rocketry.

"We have demonstrated our products to the EADS’ representatives and have agreed on cooperation. We will create a working group on certification of the manufacturing and qualification of materials", - Khlebnikov noted.

According to him, the certification, carried out in accordance with EADS’ regulations, will take about two years and around €1 billion may be spent by the manufacturer for this purpose.

"We hope that this road will lead us to supplying our products to the European partners", - said Khlebnikov.

The ceremony of launching the first stage of weaving manufacturing of Prepreg-SKM has taken place at the territory of Moskvich innovation center, located at the site of ex-factory of AZLK, on Wednesday.

Prepreg-SKM produces fabrics on the basis of carbon fiber and high quality prepregs for the needs of space and aircraft industry, building, electrical energy industry, oil and gas recovery. Prepregs are composite raw materials obtained by impregnation of reinforcing fibrous base with well0distributed plastic binder.

Kompozit Holding has been created in 2009 for forming the market of composites in Russia. It is formed by the enterprises manufacturing high-strength and high-modulus carbon fibers and fabrics based on them, along with high quality prepregs, used by aircraft industry, windpower engineering, building, car industry and shipbuilding industry.

NPK Khimpromengineering (established by Rosatom), Prepreg-SKM (Rosnano – 48%, Kompozit – 52%), “New composite materials” (30% - Rosatom, 30% - Russian Technologies, 30% - Rosnano and 10% - Kompozit) and International Educational Engineering Center (established by government of Moscow, Rosnano and Kompozit) are managed by Kompozit.

Rosnano and EADS have signed memorandum of understanding in the network of 4th International Forum RUSNANOTECH-2011. The top-priority areas of cooperation are composites, safety systems and electronics.
