The new Full Flight Simulator (FFS) for Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) is ready for training of Russian pilots, the press-service of Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (SCA) reports. AEX.ru
The FFS, produced by French Thales, is the state-of-the-art training facility simulating the real cockpit of SSJ100 aircraft. It is installed in Zhukovsky Training Center and SuperJet International, the joint venture between Sukhoi Company and Alenia Aeronautica, forming part of Finmeccanica, is responsible for its operation.
After series of functional tests in accordance with international standards the FFS has been approved by Federal Air Transport Agency. The simulator has been initially certified in Class C in accordance with JAR FSTD.
At present the simulator is ready to perform first-class training. The first regular sessions for pilots of Aeroflot will be started in late November.
The retraining program includes three stages. The first one is theoretical ground training using computer educational systems and Cockpit Procedure Trainer (CPT) of the first level of FPTD, simulating the interface of the cockpit for studying of all the aircraft systems. The second phase includes 32 hours of practice for improving the control skills and interaction between crew members according to MCC (Multi Crew Cooperation) course using static flight simulator FTD. The third stage includes sessions on advanced Full Flight Simulator FFS with the total duration of 48 hours, SCA noted.
"FFS for SSJ100 is among the “Reality 7” next-generation simulators and it has electro-hydraulic movement system, state-of-the-art visualization system with LCOS-projection devices and instructor workstation with improved ergonomics. The innovative visualization system provides imaging of all the external scenery, which may be seen by pilots on different stages of flight. The pilot using FFS feels the same as if he would have been in the cockpit of real aircraft. This advanced device will help Russian pilots improve their skills and receive Type Rating without training on the real jet", - the company’s press-service reports.
The FFS will be improved in future to Class D, the highest possible one in certification of simulators in accordance with JAR FSTD. It will allow carrying out training using ZFTT programs without training on the real aircraft. The training will be carried out by instructors of SuperJet International, responsible for personnel training for SSJ100 worldwide.
Thales Training & Simulation intends to deliver two more FFSs for SSJ100 in 2012. One of them will be installed in Aeroflot Training Center, located at the Sheremetyevo airport, and the other one – in the SJI Training Center in Venice, where the training of Interjet’s crews will be started in 2012. «The training is one of the main areas of SuperJet International activities, - said CEO of the company, Carlo Logli. – From the very foundation SJI follows the strategy of providing a full range of world class services for its customers, including support and training. And this is what our qualified international aviation personnel do».
«The timely and quality training of pilots for the airlines is one of the most important areas of Sukhoi Superjet 100 program, and the operation of this simulator will help increase the efficiency of our work in the area», - said president of SCA, Vladimir Prisyazhnuk.
