Proton-M rocket carrier with ViaSat-1 spacecraft has been successfully launched from Baikonur in 22:48 Moscow time on October 19th, the press-service of Roscosmos reports. AEX.ru
In accordance with injection program, the orbital unit, including spacecraft, adapter system and “Briz-M” upper stage, has separated from the rocket-carrier on 22:58 and continued a free flight. Separation of the spacecraft from the upper stage has taken part on 8:00 Moscow time as planned. The spacecraft has been placed under management of the customer.
It was the sixth launch of Proton rocket carrier in 2011 and the 369th one in the rocket’s history.
ViaSat-1 spacecraft has been created in accordance with the order of American ViaSat Communication Company for provision of Internet services and communications in USA, Canada, North America and Hawaii.
