The Russian civil aviation authority issued type certificate for the Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) on 28 January 2011.
In its press release Sukhoi calls the effort “an unprecedented vast certification campaign” that was performed jointly by the Russian and European authorities and certification centers working with them, Sukhoi and it industrial partner Alenia Aeronautica of Italy and a bunch of vendors from Europe, US and Russia.
The type certificate issued by the Russian aviation authority confirms the compliance of the SSJ100 aircraft to certification standards and airworthiness directives. This act opens the way for the SSJ100 to commence revenue passenger services.
At the same time with issuing the type certificate, the Russian aviation authorities completed audit of the Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC), checking design methods and quality system of the aircraft developer and manufacturer. As a result Sukhoi was granted Design Organization Approval.
The certificates will be handed over to representatives of the Sukhoi company in Moscow on 3 February 2011.
