Khabarovsk airport reports 30% rise in 2010

Russian Aviaton » Wednesday January 26, 2011 15:54 MSK

The airport of Khabarovsk, a historic hub in Russia’s Far East, says that last year the passenger flow via the airport exceeded 1.464 million, 29.6% up to previous year.

This passenger flow is the highest observed in the past fifteen years. The rise to the 2009 levels was 26% for the domestic services and 61% for the sector of the international flights.

Volumes of cargo and mail transportation also grew fast, at 34.3%. The absolute figure for the past year came to 24.9 thousand tons.

Intensity of takeoff and landing operations in Khabarovsk airport increased by 10%, with 8,700 flights served in the whole of the past year.

The administration of Khabarovsk airport says the airport never closed for a technical reason in the whole of the past year. This is important in the view of the harsh and fast-changing climate observed in the Far East.

Although over the past few years Khabarovsk has been meeting growing competition from Vladivostok as they fight for the status of the main hub in Russia’s Far East, it has managed to stay attractive to airlines and popular with passengers.
