MiG fighters still popular, with 42 sales in 2000-2009

The Russian Aircraft-manufacturing Corporation “MiG” (RAC MiG or RSK MiG in Russian abbreviation) exported 34 fighters in 2000-2004 timeframe and eight more in 2005 – 2009.

Taking account of no deliveries to the Russian air force in early years of this century and resumption of those in 2008-2010, RSK MiG is still in the business despite all the troubles this world’s most famous fighter house has had after collapse of the Soviet Union.

RSK MiG even managed to outsell some of the very prominent western manufacturers such as Gripen with 39 sales and Bae Systems with 28 sales, as well as Eurofighter with 23 sales. Dassault Aviation has sold a bit more than MiG: 57 Mirage series aircraft.

In addition to direct sales of new fighters, RSK MiG has been active in upgrade and modernization projects in India and Peru. Earlier the company successfully completed similar efforts in Bulgaria, Hungary, Yemen, Serbia, Poland, Slovakia and Eritrea.
