First images of Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) jetliners pained in Armavia and Aeroflot livery have surfaced on the Internet.
The airplane that goes to Aeroflot, registration RA-89001, is named after Mikhail Vodopyanov, Soviet Union’s popular Polar pilot. The aircraft also carries badge of the Sky Team airline alliance on its sides. This airplane became the first SSJ100 to be pained in customer airline colours. Aeroflot is expected to start SSJ100 revenue operation in March 2011.
The airplane with registration EK-95015 is destined for Armavia , the Armenian carrier that is expected to pioneer revenue operations on the Superjet 100. Revenue flights are expected to commence in February. The Armenian airline has only two aircraft on order, both due for delivery this year.
The EK-95105 is named after cosmonaut Yuri Gararin, the first man in space. Previously this same aircraft flew with manufacturer serial number 97007 on its sides. It participated in the SSJ100 certification trials, including various engine checks that are necessary for the type to win approval for passenger services.
