Interjet signed for 15 SSJ100

Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC) of Russia won a firm order from Interjet of Mexico for 15 Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) regional aircraft. It comes with an option for five.

First SSJ100 is due for shipment to Interjet in the first half of 2012. Interjet become the first Latin American customer for the new Russian jet.

In the morning of 17 January Russian wire agencies reported about this deal. SCAC has confirmed the information about Interjet order, and estimated it at US dollar 650 million by catalogue prices. With this new order, Sukhoi’s orderbook has risen to 170 SSJ100s, SCAC says.

Four SSJ100 operable prototypes and two deliverable examples completed so far have performed 1,060 test missions lasting 2500 flight hours. The manufacturer considers this sufficient to achieve type certification. The proving documentation has been submitted to Russian aviation authorities that sees to civilian aircraft certification, the Aviation Register of Interstate Aviation Committee. Certification was expected in late December 2010, but is yet to be issued.
