Past month Moscow Domodedovo airport served 17,789 flights, 13.4% more than in December 2009. The number of passengers carried on these flights came to 1,615,017, which is 9% above the figure for same month a year ago.
Cargo traffic via Domodedovo rose by 12.1%, and amounted to 16,075 tons.
Despite the electricity blackout that occurred in the morning of 26 December, the airport managed to serve a large number of passengers that departed on the New Year eve and the return flights carrying holiday travelers back home in the first half of January 2011.
The period associated with New Year holidays lasted from 27 December 2010 till 11 January 2011. During that time Domodedovo served 9,239 flights, 13% more than previous year. The number of passengers travelling on these flights came to 933 thousand, 8% more than a year ago. This includes 284 thousand passengers that flew domestic routes and 649 thousand that travelled abroad.
The peaks occurred on 30 December, when Domodedovo served 764 flights, and 10 January, when the airport registered 734 inbound and outbound flights. In terms of passenger numbers, the peaks were registered on 9 January, with 77 thousand passengers, and 30 December, with 73 thousand.
