The airline, fully owned by the Moscow city government, has announced its decision to reconfigure passenger cabins on the entire of its Embraer EMB-120 Brazilia turboprop commuter aircraft.
Although the airline acquired EMB-120s back in 2007, with intent to use them on short routes to cities and towns close to Moscow city, these program has not brought much success. Most of the planned services, to as much as thirty destinations, were not actually opened. For awhile the Brazilian aircraft operated international route from Moscow Vnukovo to the Minsk City Airport in the Republic of Belarus in parallel with Boeing 737 services. Later decision was made to rely completely on the 737 on this route.
In an effort to make effective use of the EMB-120 aircraft, purchased into the airline ownership, the carrier made decision to convert their cabin from the factory-standard 30-seat configuration into an all-business cabin for 19 travelers, “Business shuttle”. First such configured aircraft has entered service in November 2010. The entire fleet is expected to undergo the conversion in the first months of the year 2011.
