Together with private investors, Domodedovo administration and owners has plans to spend Rouble 97 billion on the airport infrastructure. Partly, the money will go for construction of a second passenger terminal and additional galleries. 

Meantime, the Russian government is expected allocate state funding for a third Domodedovo runway in the Federal Budget 2011. Construction costs are estimated at Rouble 300 million. If the requisite funding is provided timely, it shall enable completion of the construction work in 2014-2015. This shall coincide with the completion of the new passenger terminal. 

Traffic via Domodedovo is expected to reach 36 million passengers in 2016. This figure is calculated basing on Airbus and Boeing forecasts for the Russian market. After 2016 the rise will continue at 3-5% annually. In 2030 the Moscow Air Know is expected to serve 164 million passengers. Domodedovo hopes market share of 46-48%. 

Meantime, Domodedovo’s second runway will be relocated some 300m further off the first runway. Subsequently, the separation will increase to 2,300m. In future, the airport may raise the number of its runways to nine. Reservation of land necessary for such an expansion has been made.
