Russian prime-minister Vladimir Putin said that those who are responsible for situation in the airports were not efficient. He reminded that, due to bad weather, the situation in Moscow airports became unsatisfactory.
“Dwelling points remain without electricity, and thousands people are stuck in the airports”, the PM said. “It is desirable that, to start with, all those who are responsible for that situation remain at their work, and do not start celebrating the New Year (prematurely)”, - Putin was quoted as saying.
Putin has instructed the ministry for transportation to make an analysis of how the air transport system performed in the past few days, with special attention to who did what, and how they managed their duties. “I ask you to draw conclusions on everything that pertains to the work of the air transportation system in this critical situation, - indeed, the situation was critical”, he said. Putin further asked for ideas on how the airport system should be improved following a thorough analysis of what has happened.
“People were treated badly. Power lines to Domodedovo were cut due to a failure, but people continued to come to the airport, since they were not informed timely. You have gathered over eight thousand people out there. Was that a good job?”, Putin said. He insisted that it had been possible to warn people that the airport was in an emergency condition and hence flight operations were not possible.
