Up to 200 flights have been delayed in Moscow airports

Russian media estimates the number of delayed flights originating in Moscow airports at some 200 as of Wednesday morning 29 December.

The previous day of December 28 is estimated to have left 6,500 passengers due to fly that day still awaiting their flights in the airports. This figure was given by Russian wire agencies with references to order enforcement structures.

Initially, Sheremetyevo got 52 flights delayed, with 5,280 passengers could not get onboard of airplanes. Most of the delayed flights are operated by Aeroflot. Another Moscow airport, Domodedovo had 11 flights cancelled, leaving over a thousand passengers not served. Meantime, Domodedovo spokeswoman said the airport will get back into normal operating mode by the end of Wednesday 29 December. By that time all of aftermaths and consequences of the electricity blackout in the morning of Sunday 26 December shall have been overcome.

Meantime, the Russian authorities have launched 14 administrative cases following applications of the passengers from delayed flights. These cases may evolve into claims to the airports to be heard in the court. The airlines and airports are blamed for not providing accurate information on delayed serves timely, which caused much inconvenience to the customers. According to the association of tourist operators, about twenty thousand customers have suffered.
