Russian prime minister instructed minister for emergencies, minister of transportion and minister for power generation to use all available resources so as to maintain transportation systems intact.
Past weekend Vladimir Putin summoned Sergei Shoigu, Igor Levitin and Sergei Shmatko and gave them instructions in person about the necessity to keep the nation’s transportation system operational despite bad – and worsening – weather. He specially mentioned airports and roads to be taken care of.
Putin was quoted as saying the following: “The weather forecast is not favorable, so the situation will only get worse, which means everything depends on us, we must do everything that is necessary. It is necessary to summon all of your detachments and act properly when a quick reaction is required to restore power lines in shortest time possible, to keep airports operational. Besides, it is also necessary to warn customers timely on possible changes and the availability of transport services, as well as create conditions for normal work of transport crews including their feeding and time to rest. At the same time I understand that our capabilities are limited”.
Apparently, the PM addressed the ministers in the view of Moscow Domodedovo suffering from bad weather, heavy snowfall and electricity blackout. A total of eight thousand passengers could not board their flights due to delays. Over one hundred flights were delayed past weekend.
