Moscow Sheremetievo airport says its Corporate University has improved professional skills of 12 thousand employees since it was open in 2006.

Sheremetievo’s Corporate University became the first of the kind in the Russian aviation industry. The institution focuses on development of leader’s skills, talents and competences. Also, it encourages innovations, helps improving professional skills and cultivates corporate culture.

Today, more than 40 specialists and managers of the airport act as teachers in the Corporate University. They read lectures and organize seminars for trainees on 213 various training programs. Besides, Sheremetievo closely cooperates with 30 Moscow City and Moscow Region schools and universities: in four years’ time about 500 students had their practice training at the airport. More that 13% of the students who had their practice training in Sheremetievo, have applied for job here and got one after having graduated from their institutions.

Last year Sheremetievo created Club of Young Specialists. The Club is meant to be an innovation system of the airport, it selects talented youth and help them develop their talents further. Sheremetievo says this Club is the only of its kind in the whole of the Russian aviation industry.

Sheremetievo airport employs 6.5 thousand specialists on 1,700 positions in 32 departments. More than half of its employees have been working at the airport for ten years and more. Share of specialists with higher education is 33%. In 2009 and 2010 the airport was awarded “Attractive employer of the year” title by the SuperJob portal, which placed Sheremetievo above 165 thousand of other Russian employers. Earlier this year Sheremetievo was named Russia’s best airports for the professional level of its top managers by Russia’s Association of Managers.
