On December 9 Moscow Vnukovo airport administration greeted 9-million passenger served since beginning of this year.
The lucky one is 29-year old Moscovite, Aleksei Komarenkov. He was flying UTair to Tyumen. Aleksei was much surprised by having got in the center of attention of journalists. Many of the media members flocked at Vnukovo’s Terminal D in the morning of December 9. Also present on the spot was Vnukovo airport general director Vasily Aleksandrov. He chose to greet the 9-million passenger in person.
“It is a milestone for us. Passenger numbers are important for any airport. These numbers are the main indications of how good the airports are at their work. We reached the passenger traffic we had never had before. By the end of this year Vnukovo is expected to serve about 9.4 million passengers”, Vasily Aleksandrov said. His airport served 7.731 million passengers last year.
It was also noted that UTair generated the biggest rise for Vnukovo this year. Among other airlines that increased traffic via Vnukovo this year there are Moscow Airlines, Yakutia, Kuban Airlines and Red Wings. Also, two new comers, Saratov Airlines and Ukraine’s Aeroswit both have quickly made it to the top airlines operating from this Moscow airport.
