This is a civil version, created by Ilyushin and based on a serial military transport aircraft Il-76MD-90A, known as the Project 476. The conference was attended by the representatives of the Federal Air Transport Agency, State Research Institute of Civil Aviation, JSC IL, Aviastar-SP, JSC UEC, EMERCOM, Volga-Dnepr airline. As a result it was decided: to accelerate the JSC Il’s coordination with the State Research Institute of Civil Aviation on technical specifications for the aircraft Il-76TD-90A, and also to recommend to the Ministry of Industry to consider the possibility of the beginning of the aircraft production in 2017-2018, taking into account the urgent need of the fastest update of the outdated airfleet.
The Il-76 aircraft has been in operation for more than 45 years (from 25.03.1971). About 950 aircrafts of this type of various modifications (36 models) were produced during this time. Due to its unique qualities Il-76 became the most widespread military transport aircraft in the world.
There are 238 aircrafts of the Il-76T/TD family in operation at present:
- Russian ailines - 31 aircraft (7 of them with the PS-90A-76 engines);
- EMERCOM - 6 aircrafts;
- foreign airlines and defense and law enforcement agencies (27 countries) - 201 aircraft.
As the experts of State Civil Aviation Research Institute predict, by 2034 the cargo turnover of the Russian airlines can settle. At the same time about 150 cargo aircrafts of various load-carrying capacity, including to 50 - cargo modifications of wide-body aircrafts and as much ramp (excluding extra-large An-124) will be required.
Transportation possibilities of a new modification of the IL-76 aircraft IL-76TD-90A significantly surpass the possibilities of the other models of the family. It is created on the basis of the already mass military transport Il-76MD-90A aircraft.

In Volga-Dnepr airline there is a 10-year operating experience of the previous modification of the Il-76 plane - Il-76TD-90VD. The first aircraft has come to operation in June, 2006. Now it has an operating time: 9580 hours, 2380 landings. The fifth aircraft has come to operation in April, 2012 and today has an operating time: 3420 hours. 790 landings. The operating time of the fleet of five Il-76TD-90VD aircrafts has made - 31200 hours, 7520 flights, the average raid on 1 landing has made 4,2 hours.
The established resources and aircraft service life: 25 000 hours, 8000 landings, 25 years. The aircrafts are operated on maintenance-free technology and, unlike the Il-76TD; have no restrictions on the geography of flights. The airline’s aircrafts fly to countries of Western Europe, North and South America, including the USA, Japan and Antarctica today. The aircrafts deliver freights by landing and by means of parachute landing.
However, based on the experience of operation IL-76TD 90VD, the airline states a number of suggestions for improving the design of the aircraft and its operation:
- there is a need to increase the volume of a cargo cabin, creating further modification of the aircraft Il-76TF-90A in the future;
- to reduce flight crew to three people
- to provide the aircraft with more convenient toilet and the wardrobe module;
- to reduce the weight of the airframe to dismantle the right entrance door, emergency escape shaft and an escape hatch
- to constantly carry out modernization flight-navigation equipment in order to meet international requirements of CNSATM concept
- to improve after-sales service and to increase periodic maintenance of the aircraft.

Technical and economic indicators
Flight navigation system
The main tasks of the flight navigation system:
- Automatic, director and manual flight navigation with the implementation of existing and future standards of the longitudinal, lateral and vertical echeloning when flying on routes of the Russian Federation, the international routes and out of routes in any geographical conditions, at any time and year, at all stages of flight;
- Flight execution according to standards of RNAV10 (RNP10), RNAV5, RNAV2, RNAV1, RNP4, RNP2, PBN, VNAV. "
- Automatic input and storage of at least two global aeronautical databases in ARINC 424 format, the bases of declination angles, the user databases of routes and navigation points (NP).
- Automation of the solution of piloting tasks in all phases of flight along the programmed trajectory;
- Automated pre-flight ground control of performance complex, troubleshooting of constructive and replaceable blocks and communication lines..
- Navigation, including vertical for domestic and international air routes according to the existing requirements of ICAO at automatic, director and manual flight-control:
- during the programmed flights
- when manoeuvring in the airfield zone(SID, STAR; HOLD, APPR).
The PS-90A-76 engine was certified in 2003 - the addition to the type certificate of the PS-90A, has a modular design. Drawing bar - 14 500 kgfs, with the possibility of increasing to 16 000 kgfs, and at the D30-KP engine - 12 000 kgfs. The PS-90A-76 engine meets ICAO requirements for noise and emissions. For the PS-90A-76 engine the fixed resources aren't established. The appointed resources of the main details of a "cold" part - 5 000 … 48 000 cycles; a "hot" part - 3 600... 10 000 cycles. The auxiliary TA-12A power unit - a reserve maintenance period of service - 10 years, a between-repairs resource - 1000 hours, 1500 starts.
Il-76TD-90A can be operated on technical condition. The appointed service life - 40 years, resource - 30 000 l/hour, 10 000 flights. The engine unit of the aircraft is operated by technical condition. Serial production of aircrafts is provided in the general cooperation at PJSC UAC with final assembly on CJSC Aviastar-SP.
The company began production of Il-76MD-90A in 2008. The first flight of the first aircraft Il-76MD-90A was executed on September 22, 2012. By May 2016 there were issued four Il-76MD-90A, three of which were built under the contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The Registration of the addition to the certificate aboard the Il-76TD-90A aircraft is scheduled for the second quarter of 2017. Taking into account a production cycle, the possible start date of deliveries of the first Il-76TD-90A to operation – 2019.
