On August 7th, Vnukovo airport hosted a presentation by the airport medical service on conducting express testing of passengers for coronavirus with the EMG system. According to the airport, by the morning of this day, more than 60 passengers had already used the express testing for COVID-19. This service is especially in demand among passengers departing and arriving on international flights. Anyone can also be tested. The test results are issued in just 60 minutes in Russian and English. Fortunately, none of those who took the test had a coronavirus.
The EMG diagnostic system ("Evotech-Mirai Genomics"), created with the financial support of RPEF, is one of the fastest and most accurate in the world, adapted for both stationary and unparalleled mobile mini-laboratories (the portable system fits into two small suitcases). This line of test systems is also already actively used for preventive purposes at production facilities of large Russian enterprises and can even be used to ensure safety at public events.
A person can take an express test around the clock in a medical center located on the first (ground) level of Vnukovo airport, where there is a separate isolated entrance. To get there, you need to go around the building of Terminal A to the right of the central entrance groups and follow the signs at the station square. However, it should be understood that the service is paid - the cost of testing is 2 750 rubles. In addition, a rapid test for antibodies to SARS-Cov-2 can be done at the Vnukovo medical center. In case of any ailment and other issues of well-being, passengers and guests of Vnukovo airport can seek help from the second-floor of the Terminal A medical center.
“Testing for coronavirus at Vnukovo airport takes place around the clock. You go to the first room, the smear test itself is taken in the first room, then the material is transferred to the second room, where the analysis for coronavirus takes place, and in the third, sterile room, the results are issued. This first-aid post has nothing to do with the airport terminal. All employees of the first-aid post are in protective suits, masks and gloves. We did this testing for the convenience of passengers, since different countries have different requirements for testing for coronavirus, smears and certificates of its passage. They must be in English and Russian, which is what we are doing, ”- says Eduard Gevorkyan, the head of the medical unit at Vnukovo airport.
“The second point is that each country has its own requirement on the age of the test - who has 48 hours, who has 72 hours. Therefore, for the convenience of passengers, you can make an analysis for PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), get the result in 40-60 minutes here or by e-mail. These certificates will be acknowledged in any country. The manufacturer assures about the accuracy of the research at the level of 95%. Skolkovo Rospotrebnadzor operates on our territory, with which we closely cooperate. If a coronavirus is detected in a person, all data is transferred there and they are already dealing with the sick, ”- explains Eduard Gevorgyan.
In addition, a set of measures against the spread of COVID-19 continues at Vnukovo airport. Check-in and boarding gates are specially marked to maintain a safe distance. Information stickers about the need to maintain a distance are placed on the seats in the airport lounges. Hand sanitizer dispensers are installed in public areas all the way from the check-in area to the boarding gates.
Also, at the airport, the regime for cleaning and disinfecting rooms and contact surfaces has been strengthened; information is regularly held on the speakerphone in the passenger terminal about the need to use personal protective equipment and observe social distance. Airport employees undergo thermometry every shift. The use of personal protective equipment by personnel is strictly controlled. In case of any ailment and any questions of well-being, passengers and guests of Vnukovo airport can seek help from the second-floor of Terminal A medical center.
