Delivery of 22 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft may be postponed again, Interfax reports with reference to the carrier’s representative.
“The final decision on this matter will be made by the Board of Directors,” he said. At that a source close to Aeroflot’s Board of Directors said that the contract might be terminated.
Aeroflot CEO Vitaly Savelyev said at Paris Air Show 2015 that the carrier and Boeing are discussing the delivery of B787 jets. “These liners have not been delivered on schedule, that is why we are discussing the situation with Boeing,” he said.
Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO and President Raymond Conner did not confirm or dismiss the information about possible termination of the contract; he added that the talks are in progress. According to him, the airframer might find other potential customers, because all the deliveries until 2019 have already been scheduled.
Aeroflot and Boeing signed the contract for delivery of 22 Boeing 787 Dreamliner jets in September 2007. Deliveries should have been started in 2014. However, later Boeing informed its customers that the deliveries would be rescheduled, in particular, the first jet of the type might have been delivered to Aeroflot only in 2016.
