Gas-Turbine Engineering Research and Production Center “Salut” introduced the full production cycle and started deliveries of AI-222-25 engines for Yak-130 operational trainers, Voenno-promishlenniy Courier reports with reference to the head of the enterprise’s press-service, Oksana Babintseva.

She reminded that earlier this engine was manufactured in cooperation with Motor Sich and Ivchenko Progress enterprises (Ukraine) on a parity basis (50:50).

«However, due to necessity to phase out imports Salut introduced the full production cycle,» Babinsteva noted.

«The most difficult part was to master the production of the engine’s core previously delivered from Zaporozhye (Ukraine). Today Salut is able to manufacture all the components of the engine’s core,» she explained.

According to her, in the course of preparation for launching the full production cycle Salut “purchased new equipment, implemented new technologies, including production of compressor blisks, usage of high-strength powder materials for production of turbine disks, usage of single-crystal casting for production of turbine blades, etc.».

It was reported earlier that Salut was working in close cooperation with Motor Sich (Zaporozhye, Ukraine) in the network of AI-222-25 project; the Ukrainian enterprise was responsible for production of the engine’s core. Salut was responsible for production of the rest engine’s components, assembly and testing of the engine as well as its delivery to Irkutsk Aviation Plant (part of Irkut Corporation).
