A solemn meeting dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Irkutsk Aviation Plant (subsidiary of Irkut Corporation, part of United Aircraft Corporation), was held in Irkutsk, Irkut Corporation reports.
Deputy Chairman of the Government of Russian Federation, Dmitry Rogozin; acting Commander-in-Chief of the Russian air forces, Liutenant General Sergey Dronov; Governor of Irkutsk Region and Mayor of Irkutsk; President of UAC, Mikhail Pogosyan; President of Irkut Corporation, Oleg Demchenko, and CEO of Irkutsk Aviation Plant, Alexander Veprev, took part in the meeting.
During his speech Dmitry Rogozin noted that work of Irkut Corporation is the example of the country’s economic upsurge and recovery of the country’s military-industrial sector. «On behalf of the government of Russian Federation I would like to thank the management team and all the employees for creating this advanced enterprise meeting the world’s highest standards and for fulfilling the State Defense Order and export contracts on time. I am confident that aircraft manufactured by Irkutsk Aviation Plant will always be the pride of Russian aircraft industry», – Dmitry Rogozin said.
In the course of the solemn ceremony Deputy Chairman of the Government presented orders and medals to the plant’s employees in accordance with the president’s order.
After the anniversary the enterprise will deliver batches of Su-30SM multi-role fighters and Yak-130 operational trainers to Russian air forces. Dmitry Rogozin inspected the retrofitted workshops of the enterprise and checked the status of production of the first MS-21 prototypes.
President of Irkut Corporation, Oleg Demchenko, said: «We are proud that the efforts of our employees were appreciated by the leaders of Russia. It is an excellent motivation for increasing efforts focused on implementation of the State Defense Order and export contracts as well as development of MS-21 aircraft».
