S7 Airlines, member of oneworld global alliance, announced the delivery of a new Boeing 737-800NG aircraft. The liner painted in S7 Airlines livery joined the fleet Globus Airlines fleet (performs flights under the S7 Airlines brand). The airliner was delivered to the customer directly from the Boeing site in Seattle.
The aircraft was leased from BOC Aviations leasing company. The liner will be based at the Domodedovo Airport (Moscow) and will perform flights on all routes included in the S7 Airlines network. In early September the jet will perform its first flights to Nizhnevartovsk, Mineralnye Vody and Osh. “The expansion of fleet operated by the group’s member airlines by means of purchasing new efficient liners is one of our top-priority objectives. Today the average age of aircraft operated by S7 Airlines is nine years, which is one of the best indicators in Russia. We plan to take delivery of two more aircraft of the type in 2014. The jets will start performing flights in the network of winter schedule 2014/2015”, - Vadim Besperstov, S7 Airlines Group Strategic Development Director, noted.
The new liner features single-class cabin layout seating 189 passengers, but later (in the network of winter schedule) the jet’s cabin layout will be changed to the standard S7 Airlines configuration for Boeing 737-800 – 12 business class seats and 154 economy class seats.
Now S7 Airlines’ fleet comprises 59 aircraft, including Airbus A320, Boeing 737 and Boeing 767 jets.
