«On August 23rd 2014 you turned 80. Ilyushin Company, where you have been working for many years, congratulates you with the anniversary. In 1961, after graduation from the school of test pilots of the USSR Ministry of aircraft industry, you caught an eye of V.K. Kokkinaki, chief test-pilot of Ilyushin design bureau, the outstanding test-pilot. Since that time you have been working under his guidance. Vladimir Konstantinovich respected your education and willingness to test aircraft», - said in the press-service’s statement.
«You have participated in testing of many Ilyushin aircraft operated by the country’s air forces and civil aviation enterprises. The flight testing of Il-38 antisubmarine aircraft is one of your first projects. You may be proud of it – Il-38 has been operated by the navy’s aviation for 40 years. Today the new version of the aircraft (Il-38N) has been developed; the vehicle’s capabilities have been significantly expanded. The first aircraft of the type have already been put into service. V.K. Kokkinaki, your mentor, highly appreciated your intelligent and unusual approach to performing complex flights; that was the result of education received at the Moscow State University’s Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics. You are one of the test-pilots, who have brought fame to our country and done much for its security and prosperity. You have been awarded the title of Hero of USSR and Honored test-pilot of USSR. The world records set by you using Il-86 jet have become the crown of your career in the area of aviation sports, which started at the aeroclub named after V.P.Chkalov», – the company added.
