The deliveries of upgraded Mi-26T2 helicopters (including export deliveries) will be started in 2015, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the head of State Deliveries Department of Russian Helicopters Holding Company, Alexey Putintsev.
According to him, the testing of this helicopter should be completed this year. "The deliveries may be started in 2015. Helicopters of the type will be delivered to Russian Ministry of Defense in the network of State Defense Order. Mi-26T2 vehicles will also be exported", — Putintsev said at the Innovations Day of Russian Ministry of Defense.
The upgraded version of Mi-26 helicopter (Mi-26T2) is equipped with a new BREO-26 avionics suite with five multi-functional LCD displays, new digital autopilot and navigation system with satellite navigation capability.
The helicopter is powered by upgraded D-136-2 engines fitted with FADEC and having an increased takeoff power (+250 h.p.). Mi-26T2 is ready to perform its tasks in any country of the world and it will help increase the combat readiness of Russian armed forces.
Mi-26 heavy transport helicopters are used by armed forces for transporting troops and large size heavy vehicles. Mi-26 can carry up to 82 troopers with a full set of weapons or it may carry up to 20 tons of cargo inside the cabin or using an external sling.
