Yak-130 operational trainers will be delivered to Belarusian armed forces in 2015, BelaPAN reports with reference to the statement of press-service of Belarusian Ministry of Defense dedicated to the Air Force Day celebrated on August 17th.
The ministry noted that after collapse of the USSR Belarus had no basis for training of military pilots. The authorities decided to establish an Aviation Faculty at the Military Academy. Moreover, purchase of L-39 trainer aircraft and establishment of a training squadron allowed carrying out the full cycle of pilot training in Belarus.
Training sessions are held regularly by air forces and air defense forces of Belarus. New flight simulators are widely used. Today the armed forces operate state-of-the-art simulators for L-39, MiG-29 and Su-25 aircraft, which allow doing all the drills included in the training courses for different branches of aviation.
It helped improve the quality of pilot training. Over the last few years the cadets of the Aviation Faculty of the Military Academy have underwent necessary training and have been able to meet Class III Military Pilot standards.
The usage of trainer aircraft and flight simulators helps decrease the cost of initial pilot training 2,5-3 times as well as decrease the time needed to train (or retrain) the flight personnel 1.5-2 times.
The further development of air forces and aviation of air defense forces will be carried out taking into account the latest trends in the area of control of troops as well as development and upgrade of military equipment and weapons in the network of State Arms Program for 2006-2015.
The purchase of Yak-130 jets will help expand capabilities in the area of personnel training.
Today units of air forces, aviation of air defense forces, anti-aircraft missile troops and radio-technical troops are on duty together with units of Russian air forces. The flight crews are also performing other important missions: search-and-rescue operations, joint operations with EMERCOM and State Border Committee, provision of assistance to internal affairs agencies, medevac operations.
