In the network of the third international forum Engineering Technologies – 2014 and the second international weapons, technologies and innovations exhibition Oboronexpo – 2014 the Radioelectronic Technologies Concern (KRET, part of Rostec State Corporation) presented a project for establishing “REB Technology” joint venture (JV) between Russia and Belarus, press-service of KRET reports.
The joint venture will be responsible for upgrade, repair and maintenance of electronic warfare systems operated by Russia and Belarus. The JV will be established by Novgorod-based Research and Production Association Kvant and AGAT-Control Systems – Managing Company of Geoinformaion Control Systems Holding headquartered in Minsk. «Over the last few years Kvant did much in the area of development and upgrade of electronic warfare systems and reconnaissance equipment, – CEO of NPO Kvant, Gennady Kapralov, said. – Upgrade of signal intelligence and jamming systems as well as integration of these systems with equipment developed in Belarus will allow us to increase combat effectiveness of EW systems and expand the range of missions carried out by Russian and Belarusian armies».
The approved marketing policy will allow the parties to increase demand for integrated automated EW systems and services in the area of upgrade and repair of such equipment in Russia and Belarus. It will also help strengthen the enterprises’ positions at the highly-competitive global market. The parties believe that upgraded EW systems may be in demand in such countries as Kazakhstan, Armenia, Vietnam, Cuba, Egypt, Algeria, etc. In addition, synergy of scientific, production and financial potential of enterprises of Russian and Belarusian military-industrial sector will help solve the problem of launching the production of required electronic components in these countries, which is very important in terms of phasing out imports, the company explained.
Russian party has already placed an order with REB Technology for repair of components and units manufactured in Ukraine. In addition, in accordance with the instruction of Belarusian Ministry of defense the distribution of work in the area of upgrade of four SPN-4 ground noise jamming systems. The system detects and identifies targets automatically (friend-or-foe), defines the target’s class and parameters of the signal, chooses top-priority enemy and jams its frequency.
In June 2014 KRET held a meeting with the founders of REB Technology and elaborated the JV’s work plan. At present the enterprise is obtaining licenses required to develop and manufacture military products and to carry out foreign trade activities. In parallel NPO Kvant is discussing the standard operating procedures used in the network of the JV with the Russian authorities.
"The current political situation was a catalyst for joining the efforts of Russia and Belarus focused on creation of a single air defense system. Deliveries of advanced electronic warfare systems and reconnaissance equipment to these military units will help protect the border of the Union State and control its airspace", - KRET noted.
