Vega Concern will develop a UAV with a takeoff weight of 200 kg

Vega Concern (part of Rostec State Corporation) is developing a UAV with a takeoff weight of 200 kg for Russian Ministry of Defense. The development should be completed in 2016, ITAR-TASS reports with reference to Vega Director - UAV Programs, Arkady Syroyezhko.

"The development will be completed in 2016. The vehicle’s preliminary testing will be started this year. It is a military UAV", - he said. Syroyezhko noted that the UAV is being developed by Lutch design bureau.

According to Vega’s representative, analogues of such UAVs are operated by the army, but they are smaller and have shorter range. "This refers to a UAV with a takeoff weight of 200 kg. Its wingspan is six meters, it is not portable", - the source added.
