The memorial complex dedicated to Su-27 and Su-30 aircraft was opened at the territory of Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Plant named after Y.A. Gagarin. According to the enterprise, the event was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the enterprise and the Day of Air Fleet of Russia.
The solemn opening ceremony was attended by more than 200 people. In the network of this event employees of the enterprise were awarded with different prizes: 15 employees of the plant were awarded a commendation by the governor of Khabarovsk Region. They received letters of appreciation and souvenirs. 10 employees received letters of appreciation from the mayor of Komsomolsk-on-Amur; five employees - letters of appreciation from the City Duma of Komsomolsk-on-Amur. 8 people were awarded with medals of the Russian Ministry of Defense “For Air Force Service”. 44 employees received letters of appreciation from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russian Federation.
The development of Su-27 aircraft was started in late 1960s during “the cold war”. Su-27 is the fourth-generation fighter, which outmatched the US analog in terms of combat capabilities and aircraft performance. The first serial Su-27 was manufactured in 1981 (T-10S - T-10-15 version). Different versions of the jet have been manufactured until 2011. Su-30MK/MK2/M2 is the multi-role fighter derived from Su-27. At present it is the major product of the enterprise.
