The advanced long-range bomber (PAK DA) will perform its maiden flight in 2019. It was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian air forces, Viktor Bondarev, at Aviadarts-2014, ITAR-TASS reports.
"The maiden flight will be performed in 2019; the state testing will be completed in 2023 and the deliveries will be started ", - Bondarev said.
PAK DA – is Russian next-generation strategic bomber developed by Tupolev Company. It is a brand-new aircraft, not a version of Tu-160.
In future PAK DA should replace Tu-95 and Tu-160 aircraft operated by Russian air forces. The Commander-in-Chief said earlier that PAK DA is the subsonic aircraft.
The first PAK FA fighters (T-50) will be delivered to the air forces in 2016, Viktor Bondarev said. "We will take delivery of the first jets in 2016", - he said. Bondarev also added that at present everything is “on schedule” – personnel of Chkalov State Flight Test Center has been trained to operate PAK FA.
According to the general, the pilots have already started operation of one fighter. "The second vehicle is being prepared and then they will start implementation of the flight test program", - Bondarev added.
PAK FA (T-50) is Russian fifth-generation multi-role fighter developed by Sukhoi Design Bureau. The vehicle performed its maiden flight in 2010.
The first Russian military-transport aircraft Il-76MD-90A (also known as Il-476) will be delivered to Russian air forces this year. "We will take delivery of the first jet this year. 38 more aircraft will be delivered to the air forces by 2020”, - Bondarev said.
Il-76MD-90A was derived from Il-76 aircraft. It is manufactured by Ulyanovsk-based Aviastar-SP (part of United Aircraft Corporation). The jet features a new wing design, new avionics and engines. The contract for delivery of 39 jets of the type between Aviastar-SP and Russian Ministry of Defense was signed in October 2012.
Russian air forces consider Il-96 wide-body aircraft as a platform for development of a tanker and a military-transport aircraft, the general added.
According to Russian mass media, Voronezh Aircraft Production Association (VASO, part of UAC) gained approval for the production plan, which includes production of 14 Il-96s (different versions) during the period until 2024.
"We are considering this jet as a tanker as well as a military-transport aircraft, - he said. – It is a large aircraft and it is capable of transporting large-size cargo". "Upon completion of the production we will take a closer look at the vehicle", - Bondarev added.
Il-96 is a passenger wide-body medium- and long-haul aircraft developed by Ilyushin design bureau. The jet performed its maiden flight in 1988. Its serial production was launched by VASO in 1993.
