Russian non-profit partnership GLONASS and Chinese satellite navigation office agreed on implementing pilot projects in the area of flight safety and safety of navigation. Under the agreement China will place ground stations of GLONASS navigation system in its territory. According to ITAR-TASS, the first project assumes placing a local monitoring and correcting station manufactured by Spektr Research and Production Company at a Chinese airport.

“This navigation, landing and signal monitoring system will provide satellite navigation for flights using area navigation capability and ensure accurate landing approach using two systems – GLONASS and Beidou (China)”, - GLONASS Vice-President Yevgeny Belyanko said.

“The second project will be implemented on a Chinese river, where monitoring and correcting stations processing data provided by GLONASS/Beidou/GPS systems will be used for ship traffic monitoring in order to increase the navigation accuracy”, - he added.

In addition, Russian-Chinese satellite navigation subcommittee is to be established in order to prepare regular meetings between prime ministers and two advisory panels aimed at discussing matters related to standardization and joint development of navigation equipment.

We remind you that in accordance with the decision of Russian Ministry of Transport, Non-profit partnership GLONASS is responsible for development of cooperation between Russia and China in the area of GLONASS and Beidou navigation technologies.
