Transaero Airlines received the All-Russian award Souchastiye (stands for involvement) in the “For contribution to development of the corporate blood donation” category, the carrier’s press-service reports.
The Souchastiye award is presented for contribution to development of blood donation in Russia. It was established in 2010 by the Coordination center of the Public Chamber of Russian Federation for Development and Promotion of Voluntary Blood Donation and National Fund for Health Care Development with the support of the State Duma, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Economic Development and the Federal Medical-Biological Agency of Russia, the press-service explained.
“Transaero’s experience in development of corporate blood donation was included in a special edition of the Book of Winners representing the Russia’s best practices in the area of blood donation. Transaero holds Blood Donation Days quarterly under the slogan “Donate Blood - Save Life!”. The carrier’s employees working in Moscow and the airline’s regional branches are taking part in the event. Transaero has already held 19 such events. More than 1,250 employees took part in these events, and 400 of them have become regular donors. In the network of the event over 500 liters of blood have been delivered to hospitals to help children suffering from serious hematological diseases and cancer”, said in the press-service’s statement.
Transaero actively promotes the voluntary blood donation and other charitable programs implemented in the network of its Corporate Social Responsibility policy among the airline’s employees. For example, the airline holds fund raising events during Blood Donation Days. Money raised are transferred to the airline’s partnering charity funds: Podari Zhizn (stands for Giving Life), Nastenka and Schastliviy Mir (stands for Happy World). The employees also collect toys for young patients undergoing long-term and complicated treatment.
Transaero Airlines is implementing a comprehensive program aimed at contributing to Children’s Healthcare, which includes free air transportation to clinics for children suffering from serious diseases as well as a rehabilitation program named Back to the Future. Thanks to the program, about 2,000 young patients have been transported to hospitals and over 1,200 children have undergone rehabilitation after hematological diseases and cancer. Transaero’s employees and members of their families play an active part in the program. Transaero is the only Russian transport company to have the top corporate social responsibility (CSR) rating ААА (s), the airline added.
