The branch of Engineering Holding Company (also known as Engineering – The Aviation Maintenance Holding) received EASA Part 21J - Design Organization Approval. The certificate allows upgrading and modifying the cabin of passenger aircraft. According to EASA’s official website, the Engineering Holding Company is the Russia’s first organization to receive Part 21J approval, the company’s press-service reports.
“Officially the Part 21J certification was started in April 2013 after submitting the application to EASA. Having already received Part 145 and Part 21G approvals, the holding’s management team decided that diversifying the Novosibirsk-based branch into aircraft component design would be the right thing to do in terms of business development. The preparation was successfully completed in June 2014. During the preparation process, the personnel was being trained by foreign companies, the guideline documents have been elaborated and approved, contracts with subcontractors have been signed”, - said in the press-service’s statement.
The certificate allows carrying out upgrades and overhaul of aircraft cabin interior - «Minor Change and Minor Repairs in Cabin Interior», as well as modifying an airliner’s livery - «External Livery». Alexey Oschepkov, head of design-engineering department of company’s Novosibirsk branch, said that the company must follow up the success by implementing contracts for upgrading aircraft. The holding’s strategy assumes constant personnel development and expansion of the company’s capabilities in order to cover more areas specified in Part 21J standard.
At present the company already has some contracts for upgrading aircraft in accordance with Part 21J standard. The management of Engineering Holding Company expects that the certificate will allow the company to offer new services, in particular, to carry out a complete cycle «design (Part 21J) – production (Part 21G) – implementation (Part 145)» and generate synergetic effects over the entire group, the company added.
