Passenger traffic of Russian airlines was over 23,806 million passengers during 4 months of 2014

Federal Air Transport Agency has unveiled the statistics on passenger and cargo traffic of Russian airlines for the period from January to April 2014.

According to this statistics, the passenger turnover of the airlines during the accounting period was 65 480 442,35  thousand passenger-kilometers, (+6.4% as compared to the same period of the last year). The cargo turnover was 1 511 529,9 thousand ton-kilometers (-6.2%). During the accounting period (January-April 2014) Russian carriers have transported 23 806 787 passengers (+9.8% as compared to the same period of 2013). The scope of transported cargo and mail was 305 551,66 tons (-2.2%). The passenger load factor was 76.4% and the commercial load factor was 64.8%.

As for the April statistics, the Russian airlines have transported 6 430 578 passengers (+8.6%) and 84 325,54 tons of cargo and mail (-3%).

The top-5 carriers in terms of passenger traffic in January-April 2014 are as follows: Aeroflot transported 6 893 059 passengers (+16.5% as compared to the same period of 2013), Transaero - 3 172 030 passengers (+6.7%), Siberia - 2 271 310 passengers (+13.5%), UTair Aviation - 2 201 722 passengers (-2.9%), Ural Airlines - 1 269 007 passenger (+22.9%). These five carriers have transported a total of 15 807 128 passengers (+11.4%) during 4 months, which is equal to 66.4% of the total passenger traffic of the Russian airlines during the accounting period.

The five leading airlines in terms of cargo traffic are: AirBridgeCargo – 154 134,6 tons of cargo and mail (+22.6% compared to the same period of 2013), Aeroflot – 45 316,4  tons of cargo and mail (-23.7%), Transaero 20 669 tons of cargo and mail (+12.1%), Volga-Dnepr - 11 774,7 tons of cargo and mail (-40.8%), Siberia 11 685 tons of cargo and mail (+5.1%). The above-mentioned five carriers have transported a total of 243 579,8 tons of cargo and mail (+3.9%) during 4 months, which is equal to 79.7% of the total cargo traffic of the Russian airlines during the accounting period.
