Russian Helicopters Holding Company (subsidiary of Oboronprom Corporation, part of State Corporation Rostec) and Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Emergencies signed an agreement for delivery of Mi-171E helicopter. The vehicle will be delivered to the customer in 2015, the company’s press-service reports.
“Mi-171E helicopter is a member of Mi-8/17 Family. These helicopters are well-suited for search-and-rescue operations. They are widely used for flood relief, earthquake relief and elimination of damage caused by other disasters. It is also suitable for fire-fighting and provision of medical aid under field conditions. The helicopters manufactured by Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant (part of Russian Helicopters Holding Company) can be fitted with equipment improving their efficiency under high-altitude conditions (in high mountain regions). Mi-171E may be operated at air temperatures varying from -50 to +50°C, under severe weather conditions. It is able to carry up to 26 passengers or up to 12 injured persons on stretchers accompanied by medical staff. The cargo version of the helicopter may carry up to 4 tons of cargo inside the cabin or using an external sling”, - Russian Helicopters noted.
The cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan has been developing successfully over the past few years. Last year the Holding Company successfully implemented a number of projects in cooperation with the Kazakh party. In particular, in May 2012, the Kazakh Ministry of Emergencies took delivery of two new multi-role Ka-32A11BC helicopters; in February 2013 four Mi-171Sh vehicles were delivered to the Border Service of the Kazakhstan National Security Committee via Rosoboronexport. Last August another Mi-171E was delivered to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Novosibirsk Aviation Repair Plant (part of Russian Helicopters) carried out overhaul and upgrade of two Mi-26Ts intended for Kazaviaspas. This year Mi-8AMT helicopter should be delivered to the Akimat (regional executive authority) of Almaty.
“A total of 200 Russian-produced helicopters are being operated in Kazakhstan by state agencies and private companies. At present the following helicopters of Mi-8/17 Family are being operated in the country: Mi-8MTV, Mi-171E and Mi-171V-5. The Kazakh fleet also comprises military-transport Mi-26, commercial Mi-26T, multi-role Ka-32A11BC and military Mi-24 helicopters”, - the press-service added.
