The new Russian aerobatic team operating Yak-130 operational trainers will be called “Krilya Tavridi” (the Wings of Taurida), RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian air forces, Lieutenant General, Viktor Bondarev.
"The Yak-130 aerobatic team will be called “Krilya Tavridi”. At first it will operate four jets and two more ones will join the team later", — Bondarev said.
The Commander-in-Chief said that the Yak-130 fleet has been grounded after the crash, which took place in April. The flights will be resumed in July.
Speaking about the livery of the team’s aircraft, he said that this matter is being considered. "It will be no worse than the livery of the Knights and Strizhi teams", — he said.
In addition, he explained that the name of the new team is associated with the history of Russia and Crimea.
