Yuri Slusar: Russian aircraft industry is implementing a program aimed at phasing out of imports

Russian aircraft industry is implementing a program aimed at phasing out of imports, Voenno-promishlenniy Courier reports with reference to the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Yuri Slusar.

In particular, Russian enterprises will be manufacturing about 350 helicopter engines per year made of Russian-produced components by 2016, he said.

«We are working on it and we are on schedule, - Slusar said. – Our goal is to reach an output of 350 Russian-produced engines per year by late 2015 or 2016. At present Russian Helicopters Holding Company needs around 500-550 engines».

The engines will be manufactured by the new plant of Klimov Company (St. Petersburg) and Ufa Engine Industrial Association (also known as UMPO). These engines manufactured by Russian enterprises will replace the ones delivered by Motor Sich (Ukraine).

At the same time, the Deputy Minister expressed confidence that the current political situation will not affect the long-standing partnership between Russian and Ukrainian enterprises. «We and Motor Sich have a lot of plans connected with development of new engines as well as production of the serial ones, - Slusar said. – We hope that all these plans will turn into reality. There is no unfair competition between the parties. Rather, we are supporting each other».
